It’s been quiet on the blog for a while now, all due to the lack of a proper internet connection and quite active days.
Had an afternoon trip to Hidden Valley to check out the sunset from the top of the hill with Konrad, Sara, Nick and Tim a while back. The Hidden Valley is also referred to as the mini bungles as it resembles the bungle bungles which Kununurra’s famous for. It was quite nice to get out of the hostel to do something for once, and the views were just amazing…
I went up to El Questro with Sara, Konrad, Tim and Nigel a couple of weeks ago for some hiking on their famous trails. We checked out Zebedee springs witch turned out to be a couple of hot springs acting as a retirement home, it was packed with old people…
After the retirement home we had a quick lunch at the Station before making our way to El Questro gorge, a 4 hour return trip hiking trail. The views were stunning, and it was easily the best hike I’ve ever done. It contained everything from rock walls to climb as well as chest deep water to wade through.
At the end of the trail there was a crystal clear blue pool with quite a nice waterfall flowing into it. The water was freezing but it was such an amazing place, and we had it all to ourselves. Just couldn’t resist the urge to pee in it!
The hike down was wet, cold and high paced. I’d tried to keep my boots dry on my way up but it was just impossible so I was stuck with a pair of soaked hiking boots.
Since then it’s been fairly quiet again, started going to the gym as I’ve gained way too much weight around here, also started playing squash and beach volleyball. Having a blast doing it all, feels like I’m truly settled in here now. Attending the weekly quiz night at the Hotel Kununurra is probably what I’d chose for highlight of the week. Been second three times now, twice by two points and once by half a point… We’re getting there…
I got a raise at work a while back as well, my boss found out I was applying for other jobs so she decided to give me a raise and some more responsibilities, feels a bit more rewarding to work there now, even though I’m still keeping my eyes open for something more fitting to my level of experience.
The drinking’s been going on as usual on the tuesdays, wednesdays, fridays and saturdays around here…
